DeckliteAccess

Decklite Working Platform
Alternative to Conventional Scaffolding

Decklite is a structurally engineered safe access solution designed to meet industries growing need for cost-effective, efficient and safe access when performing Inspection, Repair or Maintenance work at height. The system specializes in difficult or hard to reach areas. Decklite is a multi-penetration and modular system which can be moved quickly and efficiently to increase productivity. Decklite can be installed in a number of versatile configurations and due to the characteristics, the system provides personnel with a fully enclosed, soft fall, secure and safe work area. All Steelwork components are made from high grade stainless steel to eliminate any risk association with the use of aluminium alloys and spark implications in hydrocarbon facilities. Decklite is certified to maximum live loads of up to 250 kg every square meter. Safe Working Loads are determined by way of Carbon Fibre Strut Placement. When Fit for Purpose, manual handling, risk and job safety requirements are reduced due to square meter maximum weight of 15kg.

All components have been tested to destruction by NATA Accredited Laboratories and hold structural certification within Loading & Structural use Standards AS1170 & BS5950. The entire system holds Design Certification by Germanischer Lloyd and has approved HSE Guidelines.

In High Seas or Extreme Weather conditions Decklite provides low impact as it can be safely secured into cyclone mode or removed rapidly.

The system is installed and inspected daily by Decklite Certified Supervisors using Rope Access Methods (Level 3 IRATA). When the Decklite has been signed off Fit for Purpose it becomes part of the facility and can be accessed freely by non-rope access personnel to carry out Trade Work.

Installation, Maintain, Carry Out Work & Dismantling

Decklite is installed by a minimum Decklite Team of 4 x IRATA Rope Access Technicians who have completed Decklite’s Course 2 or 3 extensive Training Course (DECK/HSE/TC-02 & DECK/HSE/TC-03). A minimum of two Level 3’s are included in the Team.

The Installation & Dismantling Process is performed using IRATA International Code of Practice Guidelines and Procedures. The Methodology of the Decklite Working Platform is performed as per the Decklite System Standards (DECK/SS/HSE-01 – HSE Guidelines & DECK/SS/H-01 – Handbook).

When the Decklite Working Platform has been installed it is signed off fit for purpose by a Decklite Certified Supervisor Level 3 Technician (Certified Course 3) who has completed all the required tasks & checklists under the Decklite HSE Guidelines (DECK/HSE/03/14). This Supervisor remains with the Decklite and monitors whilst the required scope of work is being carried out. Daily inspections and checklists are carried out after each break prior to entry.

When the Decklite has been signed off Fit for Purpose it becomes part of the facility and can be accessed freely by non-rope access personnel to carry out Trade work. These personnel complete an Onsite Safety Induction and Familiarization Course conducted by the Decklite Level 3 Supervisor prior to entering the Decklite Working Platform (DECK/HSE/TC-01).

When the work is complete, the Decklite Working Platform is dismantled and stored (or relocated to the next work zone) by the Decklite Team of a minimum of 4 x IRATA Rope Access Technicians.

OH&S

The Decklite Working Platform is a lightweight modular system and therefore provides New Technology to obtain safe access and leads in Workplace Health & Safety.

No components weigh more than 15kg and therefore eliminates manual handling, risk and job safety requirements. All Decklite configurations have secondary support and numerous backup systems to provide a safe working environment for workers to carry out scopes when working at height (Ref: Handbook DECK/SS/H-01).

When the Decklite is installed fit for purpose it is a primary support system and all personnel are attached to a secondary support central safety line by way of a fall arrest harness (Working at Height). A Safety Fence is always secured around the entire perimeter of the Decklite.

All personnel who carry out trades on the Decklite are supervised by a Decklite Level 3 Supervisor in a 1 x Supervisor to 5 x personnel ratio.

Risk Exposure & Facility Impact

The entire Decklite Working Platform Kit is deployed in a 3m x 3m Shipping Container (Decklite Toolbox) which reduces water resources and facility impact.

Walkways and areas have minimal impact when Decklite is in the installation or dismantling process due to the lightweight modular components being trolleyed to the work zone. A typical installation requires no more than a 1m square area of grate removal for below cellar deck work.

Decklite reduces risk exposure as it requires less personnel to install and dismantle. Methods can be carried out at least 50% quicker than other conventional methods. Safe Access directly to the work zone is obtained with no build up or down and modular configurations provide safety around facility penetrations such as columns and bracing. Due to the characteristics of Decklite, the system provides personnel with a fully enclosed, soft fall, secure and safe work area.

In High Seas or Extreme Weather conditions Decklite provides low impact as it can be safely secured into cyclone mode or removed rapidly.

Column Kits

The Decklite Column Kit will be quickly and safely installed around Columns, Risers, Jackets, and Dolphins etc. of any size. Using marin tensioning devices, the Kit can be lowered and raised at approximately 1 minute per 1 meter directly from the basket and directly to the zone. The tensioning device with reverse action has a self-tailing device with 2 speeds and can be easily maneuvered with one hand actio multi penetration and modular Kit can be installed in 1⁄2 or 3⁄4 sequences to allow for the fenders on the Breasting Dolphin.
